Summary:

This position resides in Brighton, Massachusetts, and is part of XL’s Operations Team. 

The primary objective is to oversee and plan for various sources of demand to support effective planning and fulfillment of new and existing products.  The Planning Specialist will be responsible for understanding and prioritizing backlog, incoming sales orders, and forecast to align XL resources.  He/she will work closely with cross-functional partners in Operations, Sales, Marketing, Engineering and Finance to ensure that short-term and long-term demand is clear.  He/she will work very closely with Sales and Production prioritize build plans, set and communicate customers delivery commitments, and create regular reports and updates for key stakeholders.  The ideal candidate will have excellent customer management skills, strong understanding of ERP/MRP, S&OP processes, and experience in a fast-growing NPI to Manufacturing environment.  Experience in automotive and/or other regulated industry experience is an advantage 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and clarify customer demand (forecasts and sales orders) from internal/external sources to allow for timely and effective planning of XL material and production requirements       
  • Act as the primary Operations contact for Engineering and the Sales Teams
  • Lead regular conference calls with stakeholders regarding demand and supply status
  • Lead monthly S&OP demand discussions with cross-functional team members to discuss plan changes, performance to key metrics, variance analyses, and impacts to the business       
  • Analyze and troubleshoot demand accuracy, trends, and plan adjustments   
  • Oversee new and existing sales orders within the system to ensure 100% commit date accuracy      
  • Work with Finance on demand driven inventory and revenue projections
  • Consolidate and present sales forecasts to key stakeholders
  • Support product life-cycle planning and last-time-buy analyses
  • Manage and report on finished goods inventory movements
  • Manage MRP parameters for purchased, manufactured and finished goods items
  • Provide input to new part creation process   

 

Requirements (Skills, Abilities, Knowledge, & Expertise):

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7 years in Planning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including team leadership and facilitation
  • Understanding of Sales and Manufacturing principles and best practices
  • Ability to perform detailed financial cost analyses and forecasting
  • Experience and success working with Engineering and Sales Teams as a liaison to Operations   
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Expertise in ERP, MRP, CRM, and MS Office
  • Team player with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm
