Supply Chain Manager

XL is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager who can implement our supply chain protocols, procedures and strategy. This position reports to the Vice President, Supply Chain and is charged with increasing supplier diversification and putting in place and improving supplier programs and processes to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, quality and cost of the supply chain. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership skills and the ability to work with a talented team. He/she will be responsible for meeting quotas, key performance targets and objectives that will be reviewed regularly. Key responsibilities

  • Develop current suppliers and help to select, assess, negotiate, contract terms and conditions with and cultivate suppliers; Create and distribute RFIs, RFQs and analyze responses.  Make recommendations for supplier qualification
  • Prepare and process purchase orders to vendors, monitor open purchase orders and support expediting orders as needed
  • Manage scheduling, flow and shipment of components to line up with XL’s production schedule, track shipments to ensure on-time arrival
  • Continuously improve purchasing processes and procedures
  • Perform and support supplier audits
  • Work with Engineering to ensure specifications are met and standards are being followed
  • Work with the Production and Sales Teams to forecast to ensure deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders; report any back-ordered or missing products in a timely fashion
  • Assist the Inventory Manager with maintaining proper inventory levels
  • Identify and support value engineering programs to reduce cost of goods sold
  • Perform key user functions in the ERP system ie; assist with physical receiving and recording of receipts, manage invoice approvals etc.
  • Adjust purchasing plan to reflect service and R&D requirements
  • Provide guidance as needed to support customer service, R&D, and capital expense purchases
  • Support Order to Cash reporting and projects as required


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering and/or business
  • 6-8 years relevant experience in automotive, manufacturing and/or supply chain organizations
  • Highly analytical with demonstrated ability to use data for planning and decision making
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic business while balancing ad-hoc requests
  • Self-starter with positive approach to teamwork and collaboration; thrives in an unstructured environment
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills; ability to work across functions and between levels of the organization
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (maximum 30%)
  • Expert MS Excel skills in order to meet management reporting requirements
